Capitola, Calif. (May 20, 2020) – San Francisco Bay Area based event production company Run Local® is launching the California Coast 500 – Run the One challenge, which welcomes all who have or dreamed of taking a journey on California’s idyllic Highway One to run 500 virtual miles this summer. Registration opens on Tuesday, May 26 with the event challenge period commencing Monday, June 8 and ending Labor Day, September 7. The event benefits organizations with a mission to feed children in America.

Beginning at the Santa Monica Pier and finishing at the Golden Gate bridge, participants will be provided with custom content, mini-challenges and bespoke California swag thoughtfully designed by California artists. While the 500-mile challenge in three months poses a formidable challenge, participants can also earn 100-Mile (7 miles per week), 250-Mile (19 miles per week) and 400-Mile (30 miles per week) finisher medals, providing all runners and walkers the opportunity to set a goal to strive for this summer.

“Run Local is a small business launched in 2012 composed of passionate event directors who live and work throughout our beloved home state of California,” commented brand President, Aaron Jacobsen. “It was important for us to launch not just another challenge, but a journey we could all share together along a route we all love, while supporting an important mission to keep children fed during this extraordinary time.”

The California Coast 500 has also partnered with Silicon Valley based training software company, PWR Lab to provide mileage logging, show participant progress on an interactive map and challenge leaderboard rankings.

The challenge is the latest in a series of new opportunities from Run Local to keep their community of runners motivated wherever they call home. Earlier this spring the Run Local Pod hosted by company founder, J.T. Service and the voice of Run Local events, Josh Muxen as well as the Side Hustle Pod hosted by X-Games’ Jimmy Coleman were launched, free Workout Wednesday classes by Run Local Coach Katie Gott on its YouTube channel as well as an iOS Sticker Pack.
