Why I Love the 408k

Kristin lives in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. Kristin shifted her life plans after having 2 kids. She didn’t have the stamina to chase after the kids, so with a very supportive friend and some double strollers, they took up walking 3 miles a day. It was all fun and games until dear friend said one simple sentence, “Hey let’s do Wharf to Wharf and we’ll just walk it”. Well, a monster was created. This year she did her first Half Marathon, with hopes to keep doing as many races as her wonderful husband and her body will allow!

Why I “Run Local”

Alison has lived in the Bay Area for 5 years and spends her time running, cycling, and making sure your appliances are energy-efficient through her work at Berkeley Lab. Alison started running (really running, for a purpose at least) four years ago, when she trained and completed her very first half marathon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program.

Pleasure, Not Punishment

Shauna is an Oakland lady. Depending on her outfit, she’s either an opera singer (gown and horns) or a triathlete (lycra and butt butter). When she’s not singing or running, she’s happily eating her way through the Bay Area and blogging about her exploits at pleasurenotpunishment.wordpress.com

Finding My Red Zone

Bay Area born and raised, Christina Dunn has always done things her own way – even arriving over a month early at birth. Running is the therapy which helped her conquer years of eating disorder, and is now taking her a mission to run 103 races. A copywriter, product knowledge and social media specialist, she is currently a proud employee of Title Nine, where running clothes are work clothes and training is work. She now lives in Richmond with her husband, three cats and two four legged trail running buddies. The Let’s Go 510! 10k will be race #12.

The Diary of a 4th Place Champion

Olivia Cusimano is a third year undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Legal Studies and English. There she is an active member of the current National Championship holding Cal Triathlon Team. Olivia has been running since in utero as, according to her mother, she would spend somewhere between one and two hours kicking her soon-to-be mom each evening. Olivia chalks this up to a head start on training.
